WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF ONLINE ESCAPE ROOMS
Online escape rooms: what they are and how to play
The puzzle room without the room: adventures you solve in your browser, whenever you like and with whoever you like. A guide for beginners.
What online escape rooms are
An online escape room, also called a virtual or digital escape room, is the play-at-home version of the live escape game. Instead of a real room there is a series of illustrated scenes on your screen: you look around, collect objects, combine them and solve the puzzles that open the way to the end of the story.
There is nothing to book and nothing to download: you play in the browser of your phone, tablet or computer, at your own pace. Compared with a physical room there is no clock and no game master behind the door: the story brings the tension, and you can stop and pick up again whenever you like.
“Virtual” does not mean virtual reality: no headset, no app. The room is drawn rather than built, and an internet connection is all you need to step inside.
How a game works
- 1
You explore the scene
Every room hides details worth a closer look: a drawer, an inscription, a crooked painting. Tap or click to examine them.
- 2
You collect and combine objects
Whatever you find goes into your inventory, to be used elsewhere or joined with another object. Nothing is there by chance.
- 3
You solve the puzzles
Codes, mechanisms, locks: the answer is always in the scene, waiting to be noticed and reasoned out. When you get stuck, layered hints put you back on track without spoiling the surprise.
- 4
You move the story forward
Every solved puzzle opens a door, a new act, another piece of the plot. A game takes 60 to 90 minutes, in one sitting or several: your progress saves itself to your account.
Solo, with friends, over a video call
You can play alone, like a puzzle novel, or as a group: in front of the same screen, with one person at the controls and the others searching and reasoning alongside, or remotely over a video call with screen sharing. It is the simplest way to spend an evening together, even from different cities.
If you are looking for a “multiplayer” online escape room, here is the honest answer: there are no separate accounts linked over the network, there is one game that the group plays together. The price is per adventure, whatever the number of players.
How many players
One to four is the sweet spot: everyone sees the details and nobody is left watching. Beyond that, it gets hard to follow everything.
Who online escape rooms are for
First-timers
The adventures explain everything as you go and the hints are there when you need them: no experience required, just curiosity.
Evenings with friends and family
Designed for adults and teenagers; younger children have fun as part of a team with an adult, spotting details and trying out ideas.
Remote colleagues
An hour on a video call reasoning through a puzzle together is light team building that needs no organising: a link and a time are enough.
Free online escape rooms: what to expect
The web is full of free online escape rooms: usually a demo lasting a few minutes, a single puzzle, ad-supported games or amateur experiments. They are perfectly good for finding out whether you like the genre.
Our escape rooms are paid and have no free versions: complete 60-to-90-minute adventures, written and illustrated in Italy, with a hint system that works and no advertising. There is one price for the whole group, whatever the number of players: split between four friends it costs less than a cinema ticket each, and the adventure stays in your account's library.

Frequently asked questions about online escape rooms
The questions people ask when they first discover the genre.
What is an online escape room?
An escape game you play on a screen: a puzzle story set in illustrated scenes, where you search for objects, combine them and solve riddles to move forward. It runs in the browser, with nothing to install.
How is it different from a live escape room?
There is no physical room, no booking, no clock and no game master: you play from home, whenever you like, and you can stop and pick up again. The exploring, the puzzles and the thrill of escaping all remain.
How long does a game take?
Between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the group and how many hints you use. There is no time limit: you can play in several sittings and your progress stays saved.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes: our escape rooms work on phone, tablet and computer, in the browser. In landscape the scene fills the screen and every detail is visible.
How many can play, and what does it cost for a group?
Solo or as a group, we recommend up to four people. The price is per adventure, not per player: buy it once and play with as many people as you like.
Can we play remotely, in multiplayer?
Yes, over a video call: one person holds the controls and shares the screen, the others search and reason alongside. There are no accounts linked over the network: it is one game that the group plays together.
Are there free online escape rooms?
On the web, yes, usually short demos or a single puzzle. Ours are paid, with one price for the whole group: complete 60-to-90-minute adventures, with layered hints and no advertising.
Do I need to install anything?
No. No app, no download, no headset: an up-to-date browser and an internet connection are all you need.
Which languages can I play in?
Italian, English and Spanish: the language you choose in your account applies to the game and to the emails. The adventures are written and illustrated in Italy.
